Nuggets look to start 5-0 in game against Lakers

Lebron James recorded 19 pts, 10 assists, and seven rebounds in the Lakers first win this season over the Phoenix Suns.

The Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns, 131-113 on Wednesday night with big performances from the starting rotation.

The Lakers were 0-3 before walking away with the victory. Now the Lakers have an opportunity to increase their record as they take on the Denver Nuggets.

While the Lakers found themselves without a win early this season the Denver Nuggets found themselves undefeated with a 4-0 record.

Can the Denver Nuggets go 5-0 for the first time since 2009-2010?

Denver Nuggets:

Denver Nuggets vs Phoenix Suns
Denver has been one of the most successful teams defensively giving up just 99.8 points a game. That mark places them with just the Boston Celtics as being the only two teams allowing under 100 points a game.

The Denver Nuggets have experience at the Staples Center early on this season. Denver took on the Los Angeles Clippers on October 17th while walking away victorious. Denver defeated the Clippers, 107-98.

Denver has been lead by both Gary Harris and Nikola Jokic this season. Jokic has reached double figures in points and rebounds during the last three games. However, his most dominant performance came against the Suns when Jokic recorded a triple-double with 35 pts, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Harris, on the other hand, has increased his scoring total each year he has been in the league. Harris is currently averaging 21 points a game through the first four games of the season.

Key Loss: Will Barton will continue to be away from the team after having surgery on his hip that was injured during the game against Phoenix. Barton will be out until at least December.

Los Angeles Lakers:

The Lakers elected to place Josh Hart in the starting rotation over veteran Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Hart scored 15 points which placed all of the starters with double figures against Phoenix. Off the bench, Caldwell-Pope recorded 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field while making just 1-of-6 attempts beyond the arc.

Los Angeles came in Wednesday giving up 131.7 points to opposing teams which ranked them dead last in the NBA. However, the Lakers looked much more in sync with one another defensively after giving up just 113 points in the team’s victory.

The Lakers saw impressive games from both Lance Stephenson and JaVale McGee. Stephenson had 23 points, eight rebounds and eight assists off the bench. McGee had his highest scoring game in five years thanks to a 20 point performance.

Key Loss: Starting small forward Brandon Ingram and point guard Rajon Rondo is still serving their suspensions after the altercation in Houston. Ingram is serving the third game of his four-game suspension while Rondo is serving the final game in his three-game suspension.

Prediction: Nuggets 115 – Lakers 108
