Matchup Breakdown: Houston Astros vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

On Sunday afternoon, the Houston Astros will host the Arizona Diamondbacks for the final game of the series.

 
The Astros lost the first game of the series 4-2 behind David Peralta driving in two runs on a single to center field and then Jon Jay knocked in the lead run on a triple during the eighth inning.

However, through these starts Greinke has made this season, we have seen a great surplus of pitches. Greinke has shown us his consistency while throwing a four-seam fastball but also managed to successfully throw a changeup, slider, and curve.

 
Paul Goldschmidt continues to have himself an impressive season for the Diamondbacks. Goldschmidt is currently leading the club in batting average (.299), home runs (33), and runs batted in (83).

 
Alongside Goldschmidt, third baseman Eduardo Escobar is currently riding a .266 batting average along with recording 21 home runs and 81 RBIs this season between the Twins and Diamondbacks.

Taking the mound for the Houston Astros is ace Justin Verlander. Verlander had logged a 2.72 ERA along with a 15-9 record this season. Among those 24 starts this season, Verlander has successfully struck out 258 batters through 195 innings pitched. During the season, we have seen Verlander rely heavily on his fastball and slider but has also shown us his curve and changeup.
