Game 3 Preview: San Antonio Spurs vs. Golden State Warriors

Currently the Golden State Warriors hold a 2-0 series lead and Game 3 will be played Thursday night at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.

My heart amongst many others throughout the NBA were affected when we heard the latest news from the Spurs organization. My thoughts and prayers go out to head coach Greg Popovich and his family after they suffered the loss of his wife, Erin Popovich, who was only 67 years old. She was a true star who was constantly full of humor.

The Spurs will have to fix something rather fast if they want a chance to advance in the series.

The Spurs had the 3rd best home record in the NBA after they won 33 of the 41 games while earning their 21st straight playoff appearance. Kawhi Leonard is still in recovery mode from a left quad injury that kept him out of all but nine games this season. LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Gay and Patty Mills will have to play much like they did during Game 2. Aldridge scored 34 and had 12 rebounds, Mills have 21 points and Rudy Gay during his first playoff start since 2012 had 12 points.

Spurs 2018

The Golden State Warriors were dominate at home even after experiencing an injury plagued regular season. The NBA champs finished as the No. 2 seed behind the Houston Rockets and were able to defeat the Spurs during the first two games of the playoffs in Oakland. The first was on Saturday when the Warriors won 113-92 and the second was 116-101 on Monday.

The Warriors continue to be without star point guard Steph Curry who is currently rehabbing a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee. Durant has been a key piece for the Warriors success this season and in Game 2, even while missing his first five three point attempts and slowed the pass game. After regrouping he found himself scoring 13 points in the second half as he went 4-6 from the field and 2-4 from beyond the arc.

Though both teams are without their superstars they have more than enough talent to make this a competitive series. However, the Warriors just played better basketball during the first two games especially on the defensive end.

Spurs vs. Warriors
The Warriors have won 10 of 11 matchups between the Spurs which includes both the regular season and post season.

San Antonio Spurs take Game 3 over the Golden State Warriors with a score of 113-109
