Win or Go Home situation for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets.
The Timberwolves and Nuggets have waited the entire season and this one game has the ability to determine who makes the playoffs and who doesn’t.
It took months but this final game of the season will take place in Minnesota. The winner will advance in the postseason while the loser will be starting the offseason. The winner may not be an 8 seed depending on how the rest of tonight’s game play out.
Two weeks prior nobody expected the Timberwolves’ season to come down to this final game. Minnesota, however, was without Jimmy Butler the last time they faced the Nuggets and lost 100-96. The Timberwolves then went 6-9 without Butler.
Since Butler’s return to the lineup, the Timberwolves have won the past two games.
This game will be much different for the Timberwolves. Jimmy Butler did not play in the Timberwolves’ last game against the Nuggets and when he did return for Monday’s game, Butler was under a minute restriction but was still able to score 15 points along with 3 steals and 3 assists.
Sadly the Minnesota Timberwolves will be without veteran Taj Gibson due to a sore neck he experienced during Monday nights game.
Without the veteran presence of Taj Gibson a lot of players will need to step up so they can get the job done and advance into the postseason.
Key to a Timberwolves Victory:
The Timberwolves have a lot of key assets on the roster. The Timberwolves have proven to be a good defensive team and can get the job done on both sides on the ball with the help of Butler and Towns. The bench also has key components as they have veteran shooter Jamal Crawford.
The Nuggets got back guard Gary Harris on Monday night after missing 11 games with a knee injury. Harris came off the bench and scored 12 points and 2 steals.
The Denver Nuggets got a big win Monday night when they defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 88-82.
Denver’s entire roster was able to step up and they understood what was at stake last game. Monday’s win, against the Trail Blazers, was the Nuggets 6th straight win.
Key to a Nuggets Victory:
The Nuggets have a very young and talented roster. They are a very versatile team and have two key guards, Harris and Murray. Not to mention, the Nuggets have some quality big men in Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic. One player that made a big jump for the Nuggets as of late has been SF Will Barton who had 22 points against Portland. If the Nuggets can continue to preform on both ends of the ball and players continue to step up and get the job done the Nuggets will be in the postseason.
