Kendrick Foster NFL Draft Prospect

Kendrick Foster (#22) was a running back for the University of Illinois. Foster attended Richwoods High School in Peoria, Illinois. During his high school career, Foster rushed for 6,401 yards (ranked 5th in Illinois history) and 78 touchdowns (73 rushing). Earned Champaign News-Gazette All-State Honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. Foster was named Peoria Journal-Star Player of the Year as a junior and senior. Played in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl All-Star game and serves as team captain of his team. Foster was considered a three star recruit by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN. Foster had a very successful career during his time at Illinois. After spending his first two seasons as a redshirt, Foster quickly saw playing time his sophomore year. Foster played in 6 games in 2015, where he would record 15 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown. Junior year is when Foster saw an increase in playing time as he played in all 12 games. Foster became the main kick return for the University of Illinois and was accountable for 720 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns, and 1,328 all purpose yards. Foster ran the ball 4 times against Murray State accumulating 118 yards, including two rushing touchdowns for 56 yards. He holds an Illinois record for 29.5 yards for a carry. During Foster’s senior season, he saw time in all 12 games where he started 5. Foster rushed the ball 73 times for 266 yards and had 6 receptions for 67 yards. Foster also returned the ball 15 times for 254 yards. Foster reflected on his experience by saying, “my success was from working hard on my craft and staying close to my faith. Just seeing all my hard work paying off from being on Doak Walker watchlist and having over 2,000 all purpose yards, being All Big Ten Academic. It was a blessing itself for everything to unfold.”
Playing in the Big Ten, Foster experienced many tough games throughout his collegiate experience. Foster said his toughest matchup came his junior year against the University of Michigan at the Big House. Foster mentioned his preparation for the game by saying, “I prepared like I did every week from watching film everyday and envisioning myself playing at a high level to help my team have an opportunity to win ball games.” Against Michigan, Foster had 8 carries for 45 yards and 3 kick returns for 77 yards.Foster 1
Foster is currently training to participate in Pro Day for the University of Illinois as he looks to impress NFL Scouts one final time before the draft in April. Foster talked about his focus saying, “all I am focusing on is getting better and setting goals every day.” Furthermore he mentions that he wants to prove to the nation as to why he is one of the top running back prospects in the country. Foster has proven himself on the field as he is quick and agile. Foster has the ability to constantly move his feet and fight for extra yardage. Foster will be on an NFL team by the start of next season and can help fix teams’ run games.
